Wired FM needs YOU!

If you are a new student at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick Institute of Technology or LSAD or you are a returning student who hasn’t volunteered before, you can now apply to volunteer with Wired FM by filling out our online volunteer form here.

All of the programming here at the station is made by student volunteers and the station provides a voice for the students of Limerick and gives them a chance to offer a real alternative for fans of great music and talk based radio in the city. Genres such as R’n’B, heavy metal, indie, dance, rock, classical, traditional, folk and much more are catered for on Wired FM. The station is particularly proud of its support of independent local music and upcoming and alternative national artists. Besides eclectic music choices, the station broadcasts weekly film, literature, sports, Irish language and arts programmes, combined with student current affairs output to let students know what’s going on and how it will affect them.

We are always looking for volunteers to work with the station in a number of roles – from presenters and producers to editors, researchers and sound technicians so you don’t necessarily have to speak on air. FREE TRAINING is provided to all our volunteers at the start of the year.

Volunteering at Wired FM is a fantastic opportunity to meet other students and to have some fun whilst learning some really interesting new skills. Working at the station is also an excellent addition to your CV and some of our past volunteers have gone on to work with the likes of BBC, RTÉ (radio and television), Newstalk, local commercial and community stations and other media outlets around the world.
